1. "TNT" by AC/DC this is a song that my father and I would always listen to when I was younger and it just reminds me of all the times that him and I were in the back yard when I was younger pitching to him in the backyard.
2. "What It's Like" by Everlast is a song that I have always enjoyed because you don't really know what it's like. Everybody has their flaws or struggles that they are trying to fight everyday and you could have absolutely no idea. So there is no point in judging people before you get know them. It just speaks to me because there have been a lot of crazy things that have gone on in my life that not many people really know about.
3. "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw is another great song that I just recently started listening to because even when you might be doing great things there is no reason to show off. What I've learned is that you just need to stay humble and kind and things will only get better.
4. "The Greatest" by the rapper Futuristic is just a great song that I found last year that I always listen to before baseball games. It just talks about being underrated but then still being able to compete when people thought you couldn't and that explains me perfectly.
5. "I Somebody" by Locash is just an up beat song that I like to listen to. It just keeps me in a great mood.
6. "These Days" by Mike Stud who is a former baseball player, is a great song that most of us baseball players like to listen to on the weekends so that is something I will remember with this song. Just hanging out with the boys!
7. "Me, Myself, and I" by G-Eazy speaks to me because for me to get to where I am today I had to believe in me, myself, and I. Sometimes it is hard to but in the end that's what needs to happen.
8. "Wish I Had It" by Kevin Gates is another great song that just gets me pumped up before games that I feel speaks to me because it talks about the hustle, the grind, to get to where you want to be. He also says in the beginning, "vision without action is merely a dream", so go out and do what you envision.
9. "Confessions" by Florida Georgia Line is just a good country song that I love to listen to when I am hanging out with my friends back home or just driving around with the windows down.
10. "The Prayer" by Kid Cudi is just a meaningful song that kid of just talks about being yourself and nobody is going to remember you for material things. They are going to remember you for being you.

Top 5 Skills
The top five skills that I want to learn are better writing skills, time management, budgeting, work better with groups, and presentation skills. I want to have flawless writing skills. I am going to be a teacher so I know there is going to be a lot of writing. My writing skills are not terrible by any means, but I would like to see it improve So by the time I leave Defiance college it would be great to have bettered my writing skills so I can become an even more successful teacher. Time management skills is another set of skills that will be helpful not only for teaching but just for an everyday life skill. Time management is huge when you have a lot of things to do. You need to be able to set times and find times to get things done. Budgeting is another big skill that will be great to learn. I never knew how much money I really spent and when I found out it was frightening. So it would be great to learn how to budget so I can actually save up my money. Working better with groups will definitely be a great skill to do better with. I am going to be an intervention specialist so I am going to be constantly working with different people to help my students be as successful as possible. So if I can learn to work better with groups of people then I will be a more successful teacher. My presentation skills would be great to better by the time I leave. I don't have problems giving presentations in front of people but it will never hurt to make my presentation skills better. It will only help when I am teaching or even giving group presentations to my fellow teachers.

Week 8 Differences between college and high school
Dear High School senior,
You may think you know what you are getting yourself into when you come to college but in reality you have no clue what you have in store for yourself! College professors are a lot different than your high school teachers. Your high school teachers might be specialize in a specific content area but they are not specialists like college professors by any means. In college your professors are specialists for what you are majoring in, they are here to help you become what you want to do in life. While your high school teachers are just there to help you move on to college. College professors are going to help you become who you really want to be. Another difference he discusses is the new kinds of motivation and discipline that college work requires. This is not high school anymore where you can slack off, turn in a paper that you barely worked on our thought about and still got a decent grade on it. In college you have to set time aside to complete your assignments, you have to be motivated to get it done and done correctly. You also have to be disciplined because in college there is a lot going on. You have to decide what is better for you, to go out and party on a certain night, or should you stay in and get this essay that is due on Monday done with. One thing that I have noticed is the effects of being a student athlete. In high school it wasn't too big of a deal playing a sport and dealing with school work. Now that I'm in college and have to balance out school and baseball it makes it extremely difficult to find time. Due to games I have to miss class and in college that is valuable time that is being missed that can effect your grades. So if you are wanting to play a sport in college and be successful in the classroom at the same time you have to be on top of your game in the classroom and on the field. Another aspect that is very important when you come to college is your communication skills, you have to be able to communicate effectively with your professors. You can never be afraid to confront your professors if you have a problem or question. They are always going to like it if you are active and asking them questions. Along with communicating with your professors, use the resources your wisely, in high school like I said before you can get by doing the minimal work, in college it doesn't work that way. There also aren't many resources to be used in high school either. There is a ton of useful resources in college that will make you successful you just have to use them to your advantage. So be smart, know what you're getting into when you come to college, and come prepared to do your best work!
Hitchcock Film Style
Hitchcock loved psychology and started to use psychoanalysis in his movies. He thinks of many different ways to find clues and he hints at the way people behave at certain moments. In a way he is almost playing with the audience by playing mind games to get the audience to be engaged and thinking about what is going on in his films. Ethics is another hot topic in films that Hitchcock seemed to get around in some of his movies based on some of the clothes the women were wearing, the duration of the kissing in his scenes, as well as the use of drinking and driving. This goes to show that Hitchcock was a little edgy in his films, going against the cultural norms of this time era. Hitchcock was way ahead of his time with his film ideas due to the fact that he was outgoing and did not seem to care about some of the rules that were in place for films during that time era. He worked his way around things such as the duration of kissing and the drunk driving, which was frowned upon during that time. He also used different camera angles constantly to give the audience a different perspective and point of view. Overall, Hitchcock and his film style changed film making due to him thinking outside of the box.

Psychology in Hitchcock films group activity
Psychology is the way we all think, feel, and behave. Alfred Hitchcock's career was just starting when Sigmund Freud founded psychoanalysis in the 1920's. Freud's theory was very popular in many films and books in the United States. At first Hitchcock was very nervous about the usage of psychoanalysis in his films, but ended up causing his career to sky rocket.
A few examples of psychology in Hitchcock's film called Notorious are the following:The MacGuffin in Notorious was the Uranium hidden inside the wine glasses. When Alicia discovers her husbands fear of her going into the wine room, she realizes that the MacGuffin must be in that room. She and Devlin tried the entire party to go into the wine room and find out what was being hidden in there. When they finally broke in, they discovered that it was hidden in a wine bottle. They discovered this because one of the bottles fell and broke onto the floor. When Alexander discovers that they found out where he was hiding the uranium, he went into the wine room to find any clues as to how they knew. He has to think of so many complex ways to find any clues possible. This has a lot to do with psychology because he thinks of many different ways to find clues and the way he behaves when he finds out is also a great example.
When Alicia was poisoned by Alexander and his mother for being a US detective and finding the Uranium, Alicia quickly finds out that they knew she knew where the Uranium was. She reacted quickly and became very worried about what was going to happen to her. Devlin knew that something terrible had happened to Alicia since he hadn't heard from Alicia for a week. He decided to go over to Alicia's house and find out what was wrong with her and that is when he discovered that she was being poisoned. This goes along with their behavior and finding out information quickly.

Spring Break
For spring break the baseball team traveled down to Ft. Myers, Florida. While we were down there we got to play other colleges from all over the country. We got to play at the Red Sox developmental facilities. It was a great experience for it being my first spring trip with the team. While we were down there, we went 5-1, which is the best record that a team has had by the end of the Florida trip. Everyday that we were down there it was sunny and in the 80's, then we had to come back to Defiance where it is a lot colder. We got to have some free time while we were down there so a group of us went to the beach and that is when I realized how effective sun block is due to the severity of my sun burn. Overall, the team as a whole looked great over the spring trip and we will only continue to get better the more that we play.

Baseball season starts this week
Baseball starts this next Sunday and I could not be more excited. Whether I get to play or not, I could care less. It is going to be my first collegiate baseball game. This is something that I have been waiting a while for. It has always been my dream to continue to play baseball at the next level and after these long weeks of practice, we will see if all the hard work has paid off. We start the season in Kentucky playing Centre, so hopefully we can come out and start the season on a good note. That way we can be on a roll once we get to Florida. I am super pumped, we have a great group of guys that has a lot of talent. We can definitely do some damage this year if we put our mind to it.

Snow and the Cold
The snow and the cold absolutely suck. This is the time of the year that I hate with a passion. I would much rather have it be nice, sunny and 75 degrees outside. I just want it to be spring weather already because that means that baseball season is up and rolling. The cold and the snow just makes me feel completely unmotivated to do anything at all. It makes it seem depressing out and all you want to do is stay inside and just play Xbox or even watch Netflix. We are practicing for baseball and since it is so cold out it does not make it seem like baseball season is coming around at all. The cold puts everyone in a bad mood because there is not a single person who likes being in the cold. But as soon as it is warm out and sunny it automatically can put you in a great mood. The cold winters just suck and now with being up north even more makes the winters worse. It is just more colder and the wind makes it brutally cold out. But sooner than later it will be spring and there will not be any worries about it being brutally cold out.
Lying
What Meyer means when she said that lying is a cooperative act is, whatever is said does not mean anything until it is actually believed. You are technically in control of whether you are getting lied to or not, it is all about accepting the lie that is told to you. What she means when she is discussing that lying is a way of connecting what we wish we were to who we really are is that by the lies that we tell, after a while, people are going to see who you really are based off of those lies.
I agree with truth #2 about how we are against lying but covertly for it at the same time. This is true, as a society it is frowned upon to lie to someone about something. But in reality we are always lying to try and make ourselves look better or to make sure someone does not find out any information. There are some situations where lying is necessary.
Some techniques to spot liars are the way that they say things and the words that they use. Some people are going to use words to try and distance themselves from the lie. Everybody has their own sayings for when they are about to say a lie. For instance I know my sister would always say "actually" before she was about to lie. We want to learn these techniques so we know if we are being lied to. We can also use these techniques to figure if the people you surround yourself with are trustworthy.
I agree with Meyer on preserving honesty. In my eyes I do not see a point in lying at all. I am the type of person that is very upfront about everything. There is not a point in lying, you are only going to be digging yourself into a big hole because once you start lying, it is going to be hard to stop. Eventually you are going to be lying about your lies and trying to keep covering them up.

Baseball Season Has Finally Arrived
February 1. That is the day where we can finally start to practice for baseball. I am more than excited to get started. It has been weird because we were teased with fall baseball and then we were done. It seems like it has taken forever to get to this point, but it is finally here and everybody is ready to get going. It is going to be exciting to get back into the swing of things. Sadly we have to start out practicing inside until it gets warm out, but I don't care because any baseball activity is better than none. We don't have much time to prepare, our first game is February 28th so we have to use our time wisely so we can be the best that we can be. We are all ready to do some really big things and get some really big rings and I think that we have the talent to do so. As Coach Woodley says, "IT'S TIME"!
Advertisements
The first advertisement for the iPhone has an audience of anybody who has a phone. They are trying to show us that everyone has an iPhone by stating that 90% of people have one. So they are trying to sell their phones to everybody. You can tell by the pictures that are shown in the commercial. There was not just one person, it was several different people that were not all the same race. The second advertisement has an intended audience for anyone as well. They are just trying to sell their new smart TV where you do not have to use a remote. They just tried to use humor with the good looking girl turning her volume up and down but making it seem like she is waving to all of the men. The third advertisement is showing how great a Mercedes Benz car is in a round about way. The intended audience for this is most likely people who want a nice luxury car that is German. We need to be critical of the intended audience in advertisements because the companies are trying to sell their products to people who are going to want them. For example someone who can't afford a Mercedes Benz isn't going to pay much attention to the commercial. But someone with a decent amount of money and is looking for a luxury car is going to be hooked on that commercial.

Haircut Time Featuring Mac
So to the people that know me really well, I am a fun loving guy who just likes to have a blast. I like to just go with the flow and say whatever I please. I don't have much of a filter but I know when to be serious. I just like being happy and making other people smile and laugh. One other thing is that I am always down for whatever and having a good time. So one day were sitting in the cafe and my buddies and I were all sitting around just talking. Previously I let Mac shave my head because all they boys thought it would look good with the beard and I'd also look like one of our former coaches. This time they decided it would look kinda bad ass if I got a mo-hawk. So me being me, I said sure! We went to the store and bought some razors. I already had shaving cream so we all headed over to Whitney so Mac could once again shave my head. This time it didn't take as long as shaving my head completely and it didn't turn out too bad. I am definitely not going to keep it for a while since I have to go and teach at the high school and I don't think it'd be very professional if I showed up with a mo-hawk. In the end I'm just a guy who likes to have a good time.
Narrative
It was the last week of my senior year of high school and my buddies and I wanted to go out with a bang. We began trying to come up with ideas for a senior prank, there were kids who wanted to leave class and have a giant slip n' slide outside during the middle of the school day but we thought that was pretty cheesy and boring. We wanted to spice things up. We all had been hanging out together and just brainstorming ideas for what we should do. We wanted to do something that was really really good. Nate, who is kind of a country boy was like, "Why don't we get some pigs and we can let them in the school and we can label them 1, 2, and 4, but there are only three of them?" We all thought it would be a great idea, but where in the world were we going to be able to find three pigs in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio? We then thought of the idea to search the internet and so we got on Craigslist to see if anybody relatively close to us was selling any pigs. Lucky for us there was a guy in Lebanon, Ohio who was selling quite a few of them. The only problem is that it was $150. So the thoughts that crossed our minds were, how in the world are we going to be able to get $150 to buy pigs? So we all discussed it over the next few days and we had several people in on what we were going to do and we had a number of people give us money. So we decided it would be cheaper to just get two pigs. It is now Tuesday evening and we were on our way to get the pigs. The guys show up to this house and it looks like it should be on the TV show Hoarders. A big fat kid, with no shirt on comes out and sells them the two pigs. They get back to Nate's house and we're all waiting to see these pigs. They were just some little ones, but they were some feisty little suckers. They got out of the box and were trying to run through the metal fence for some reason. After we all got done laughing we came up with the plan. So we all got up early and met at Nate's. For some reason we decided to take them out of the cage and hold them in our laps in the car on the way to school. That was the worst idea because it ended up pissing and pooping all over me and that was the worst smell I have ever smelled in my entire life. I had to roll the window down because I was gagging at the smell, the pig was also squealing like crazy and my friends and I could not stop laughing. But since it was so loud we had to roll the windows up and at that point I couldn't take it so I got out of the car. We had to sneak the pigs past a teacher who was out in the parking lot because that was her duty. Nate took the first pig and let it go down the hallway and it went straight into one of the classrooms and pooped all over the place. On the other hand, our other friend was going to take the other pig out but something happened and it got out of the car when he opened the door. So we were sitting in class and we see the administrators and janitors running around trying to chase the last pig. Then the four of us got called down to the principals office and at first they were not going to let us walk at graduation. But we were all good kids that had never gotten in trouble before so instead we had to go to alternative school for three nights and we weren't allowed to come to school for normal hours. This day was the same day as the spring sports awards, little did I know that I was going to win a scholarship for displaying courage, determination, strength, selflessness, pride and impact. So this was one interesting day and it will forever be in my memory and needless to say I went out of high school with a bang.

Griffey Elected into the Hall of Fame
Ken Griffey Jr. is the first person ever to get more than 99% of the votes to get voted into the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. He was the idol of the game of baseball during his playing years which started for him when we was only 19 years old. He was playing with the Mariners where he had 417 and home runs and he was one of the most beloved baseball players. After his time with the Mariners, Griffey took his talents back to where he grew up, Cincinnati, Ohio. He was then playing for the Reds. Griffey grew up in Cincinnati and played for one of the best high school baseball teams in the country and that was Moeller High School where he was drafted out of high school. But after his arrival in Cincinnati he began to rack up more and more home runs. He was the hometown guy and hero for most of us young Cincinnati Reds fans. I remember when he hit his 500th and 600th home run with the reds and it was an enormous feat for one of the best baseball players the game has seen. Griffey spent the majority of his career with the Mariners so he is going to be wearing a mariners hat on his bust in the hall. Making him the first Mariners player ever to be elected in the Hall of Fame.
My Eventful Night Where I Ended Up in Jail
It was one groggy Saturday morning, I woke up cold and in a panic. But I couldn't go anywhere because I was in a jail cell. Little did I know, I had some other cell mates that weren't too happy that I woke them up. So it was not a fresh start to a morning where I had no idea why I was in a jail cell. As my cell mates fell back asleep I began to panic and pace around the cell. As I begin to get up I realize that there is something kinda round in my pocket. I pull it out and it's a beer bottle cap, so you know it was an obvious long night. It slowly starts coming back to me that me and my buddies were at Joe's house and we decided to leave and head over to another buddies house which would explain why I also had a car key in my back pocket. I must have drove over to the house which obviously was not a good idea since we had all been drinking. Then I found some money left over and that reminded me that after we left our other buddies house we went to the bar to see a band play which would explain why I had a guitar pick. The lead singer was playing the guitar and was throwing some picks out while he was playing and I caught one. Lastly, I found a receipt for $500, I guess I decided to pay for all of my friends drinks. My friends came and picked me up from jail and told me everything. I ended up in jail because I decided to drive home from the bar and I passed out and crashed my car and the cops came and took me to jail and I got charged with a DUI. What seemed like a fun night turned into something more interesting than I could have ever expected.
